So, just like with the level summary, feel free to take this apart, reorganize and discard as you see fit. This is just as a starting point.
I'll start on dialog once we agree on a plot.

Part 1:
It the the Era of Klan'ji, named after the elder of the monastery that led the monks into this era, but Klan'ji is dying. As with all eras, at the end of the Era, a storm comes to "separate the weak from the strong, and to bring forth a new leader for the next era. The only way for this to be averted is to return the current leader to good health. The divine inspiration is the only known way to achieve that, and it is rumored to be found at the top of Mount Doom, where no man has ever returned from. No man, but perhaps a skunk may be able to achieve this!
And so one of the younger monks start to train an exceptionally promising skunk in the ways of the elders (i.e. puzzling). The skunks final challenge is to defeat the spirit of the first elder, a spirit bear. Once he has completed this task, he is rewarded with the orb or resurrection (lets you redo a level if you die, from a gameplay perspective).
Part 2:
The skunk was sent by the monk to retrieve a relic from the island people that would let the skunk traverse the mountains. The skunk travels to the island and overcomes the hostile islanders and their chieftain, to receive the Pogo Stick (lets you jump higher).
Part 3:
The skunk passes through the jungle, while the storm intensifies. Hastiness is required as he progresses through the mountains. He arrives at the cave entrance, which is guarded by a golem that comes to life when the storm has started. The skunk defeats him to gain entrance to the mountain, and finds a volatile compound that makes his stench so powerful he can double jump.
Part 4:
The skunk must make his way to the mountain top through the lava-filled caverns. Once at the mountain top, the spirit of the volcano says he will 'show the skunk the way', then tries to kill him. The skunk defeats the spirit and obtains the divine aura. The monk comes into the aura, and says he understands everything now, the he commits suicide. The skunk follows the monk to death.
Part 5:
The skunk has arrived in purgatory. The divine aura has transformed into the divine guide, telling his to search heaven (if the monk lived well) and hell (if the monk did not) for the monk. After searching, without luck, the guide tells the skunk of a third option, that the monk is in a deeper state of purgatory. The skunk proceeds to find the monk, in purgatory, at which point the monk indicates to the skunk to follow him through a dark doorway.
The dark doorway brings skunk and monk to the monastery. The storm has gotten a lot worse, as Klan'ji has died. The monk tells the skunk that this was all part of the plan, and that this was all part of his plan to become the new leader of the monastery, and the most powerful man in the region. He needed to come back from the grave with the divine aura in order for his people to believe he was sent by <insert higher power here>. Skunk is all that stands in Monks way, as skunk is the only one that knows the truth about monk. After a long battle, monk is defeated, and the storm dies down. Skunk is crowned the new leader. The Era of Skunk has begun!

Add names in for skunk and monk to flesh it out, if you want, otherwise, revise as you see fit. Smile
